I've read a few blogs of photographers who claim that it is "cheating" to edit photos and that true photographers do not need to digitally edit their work. While I admit, it takes way more skill and talent to get what you want exactly "in camera," not everyone has multi-thousand dollar lenses and equipment to make their photo perfect at the close of the shutter. I surely don't. So I edit my photos. I don't think it diminishes my integrity as a photographer at all. Editing can take a good photo and make it great (the opposite is true also...too much editing can also destroy a photo).
So there's my confession. If you see a "Walley Photo," chances are it's been through some editing.
I've spent some time tonight going through some of my old South Africa photos and seeing what I could do to them now that I have new editing software. All of these images were editing using Adobe Lightroom. If you are looking for some great software, I suggest you check it out.
Before is on top; after, on bottom.
